Spread the love

FarberwareI have seen these glasses around.  Some time ago I saw four in a Salvation Army. I didn’t buy them and I have regretted it ever since.  I saw these recently and decided to pick them up.

I thought that they were called Farberware.  But Farberware is the name of products made by the S.W. Farber Company.  Mr. Simon Farber had two brothers who had their own company called Farber Brothers.  They made glasses that are very similar to the ones shown here.  For awhile I thought they had been made by Farber Brothers.

But two very interesting guides on ebay – Farber Bros Vs. Farberware and Farber Bros Vs.United Chromium written by martinisandmore would lead me to believe that the metal pedestals of these glasses were made by United Chromium with the glass inserts by Morgantown.Farberware (6)

Farber Brothers used glass inserts by Cambridge Glass.

The interesting thing is that the inserts come off.  I don’t know the reasoning for that – perhaps to clean.  When I read that, I had to of course try to pull them apart. Hence the photo!

If you search the Internet for Farberware or Farber Brothers you will see lots of barware.  Some of it is quite attractive, although this isn’t something I would collect.
