Unknown BlankIsn’t this neat?  I picked eight of these up at the local Salvation Army shop.  I had never seen this shape/blank, but the thickness of the glass, the leg, and the very narrow optic convinced me that the glasses are old.  There were sherberts too, but I ran out of cash (that’s all they take).

A contributor on the Elegant and Everyday Glass Forum identified these stems.  I’d not heard of Utility Glass Works.  I gather this was a company located in Maryland. It began as the Dugan Glass Company in 1914, transitioned to the  Lonaconing Glass Company from 1915-1918 and then became the Utility Glass Works in 1920.

Although there is no etch, Unknown Blank (2)I find the shape very attractive.  I still find it amazing that these glasses have lasted more than 80 years!
